End of Term 1 – Autumn/Easter

Another term has nearly reached its conclusion. All around the school there have been various games played, songs sung, main lessons completed, and much, much more. Right through the classes from kindergarten up to Year 12, new knowledge and skills have been learned and so many new and wonderful experiences had.

It has been a term filled with hot sticky days at the beginning but slowly we have turned towards the milder pleasant days of autumn. The Yolgnu people of Arnhem Land have an expression that describes a perfect balance in temperature – not too hot or too cold, that is often equated to human body temperature. This occurs in what they consider to be the healing season. Early autumn in Melbourne does allow this perfect balance to occur so that we can bathe in this exceptionally pleasant state.

We have all worked very hard over these last ten or so weeks and are about to head off for a well-earned rest. These holidays include the celebration of Easter. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs after the spring equinox. The mere timing of this event gives reason to pause and contemplate these great cycles that determine our earthly existence. Through these great natural cycles we can then also consider the significance and mystery of the role of Christ in the living evolution of humanity. It is truly a remarkable time of year.

We wish you all a very happy and restful break, a wonderful Easter, and we look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for a new term in a couple of weeks’ time.
